Capacity building support helps non-profit organizations make critical contributions to public policy

Summary

The purpose of this project was to facilitate learning within the non-profit and voluntary sectors on how to impact policy decisions. The Calgary Chamber of Voluntary Organizations operated a series of half-day and noon-hour workshops in order to educate the Calgary and area non-profit sector on how to impact the provincial government’s policy development, how to impact municipal policy development, and workshops related to provincial budget formation, and inter-organizational collaboration.

Grant Outputs

The following workshops were held as outcomes of this grant: –

– Insight into Working with the City of Calgary – Part 1 (October 2008)
– Filing the T3010A Charity Form sessions (September and October 2008)
– Alberta Community Spirit Program Information Session (September 2008)
– Lobbying by Nonprofits with Sean Moore, former Partner and Public Policy Advisor, Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP (June 2007)
