George Maxwell Bell (October 13, 1911 – July 19, 1972) was a Canadian businessman and philanthropist. He was best known as the co-founder of FP Publications, Canada’s largest newspaper syndicate in the 1960s. Much of his fortune was built on Alberta’s burgeoning oil and gas industry. He was a frequent and usually anonymous donor to both established charities and to individuals and families in need. Before his untimely death, he established the foundation that bears his name with a donation of $17 million in FP publications stock.
