Allan Northcott

President

Prior to joining Max Bell Foundation in 1998, Allan was a member of the academic staff at the University of Illinois and the University of Calgary, and was a member of the research staff at Canada West Foundation. He has served as an advisor and on the boards of a number of non-profit organizations. He has served as a member of the boards of directors of Imagine Canada, Philanthropic Foundations Canada, and The Pemsel Case Foundation. He serves on the Editorial Advisory Board for The Philanthropist.

Before joining Max Bell Foundation in 2016, Margaret worked in communications, fund development, and program delivery at several of Calgary’s non-profits, including YMCA Calgary, the University of Calgary, and Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation. She earned a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of King’s College and a Master of Arts in history from the University of Calgary.

Prior to joining Max Bell Foundation in 2023, Kim worked at the Palix Foundation managing projects related to brain science, trauma informed practice, resilience, early childhood development, addictions and mental health. She has also worked in the areas of environmental and social impact assessments, workplace health and safety due diligence audits, regulatory permitting, and stakeholder consultation. Kim has a Master of Science in International Development from the University of London and a Bachelor of Business Management from McGill University.

Prior to joining the Max Bell Foundation, Doug worked with the McConnell Foundation on the Innoweave program, helping community sector groups across Canada implement new social innovation approaches. Before working at McConnell, Doug was a Senior Policy Advisor in the Office of the Ontario Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, the Office of the Ontario Minister of Northern Development and Mines and Chair of Cabinet, and the Office of the Ontario Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. Doug has held various positions in the federal government as a Policy Advisor and Analyst at ESDC. Doug has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Studies from Queen’s University.

Prior to joining Max Bell Foundation in February 2020, Arlene worked with a grants management consulting organization. Her expertise includes grants and office management, human resources, supervision, and administration. She enjoys being a part of the non-profit sector and the opportunity to contribute to making a difference in people’s lives.
