Summary
Each year in Canada, 6,700 youth age out of the child welfare system, often at risk to their health and wellbeing. The types of extended post-care supports and the degree to which youth can access them varies across and within jurisdictions. In response to this issue, this grant supported: an environment scan, analysis, and summary of policy initiatives proposed since the 1980s; a literature review of evidence-based solutions; and a policy brief. This foundational work in turn will support the larger policy advocacy efforts of the Child Welfare League of Canada.
