Summary
This project built on the Transforming Care at Bedside (TCAB) project and identified two key tasks: to understand care through the eyes of the patient, and to use this to redesign care that is patient centered. Project designers engaged stakeholders at a variety of levels ranging from Senior leaders and funders, to clinical and non-clinical departments.
Grant Outputs
Patient Engagement: Putting Patients at the Centre of Care – http://www.cfhi-fcass.ca/WhatWeDo/Collaborations/PatientEngagement.aspx
This project increased work efficiency, improved communication, and enriched teamwork and morale. Surveys conducted with patients discharged from the pilot-test units show they believed the staff were genuinely trying to listen and understand, and that interaction between patients and staff has been improved significantly.
