Spring 2003 Tour of Johan Hjertqvist to Alberta and Saskatchewan

Linkage and exchange between Sweden and Canada could provide valuable lessons to Canadian policy makers about how to improve the Canadian health care system

The purpose of this project was to inform policy debates shortly before provincial elections in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Johan Hjertqvist traveled to those provinces in order to facilitate a transnational discussion about medical care reform. Hjertqvist is a Swedish health policy specialist who published a number of newsletters to inform Canadian policy makers about successful reforms that had been undertaken in the Swedish context. This tour was organized in order to inform provincial governments that appeared open to the idea of policy reform in the realm of health care about Swedish successes.
