In the summer of 2025, Max Bell Foundation issued a call for applications inviting organizations to submit letters of intent that would develop and fund projects aimed at understanding youth civic engagement in Canada and identifying promising pathways for future investment. Full proposals were subsequently invited, submitted and several projects were sent out for external review.
The following ten projects were approved by the Board at the Foundation’s meeting in May 2026 with a grant up to $50,000 each:
- Children First Canada in support of the project From Classrooms to Commons: Youth Leading Canada’s Future.
- City Hive Youth Engagement Society in support of the project CityShapers in Schools.
- CIVIX in support of the project Making Civics Matter.
- Engineers Without Borders Canada in support of the project Systems Change Engineering Certification Program.
- Gakino’amaage: Teach for Canada in support of the project The First Nations Student Impact Project.
- Indigenous Youth Roots in support of the project Policy School Hackathon & Graduation.
- Islamic Family & Social Services Association in support of the project Civic Youth Fellowship.
- PolicyWise for Children and Families in support of the project Policy Legal Education & Advocacy for Two Spirit, Trans, Non-binary, and Gender-Diverse Youth.
- RADIUS – Simon Fraser University in support of the project Civic Futures: Building Leadership and Networks for Newcomer Youth.
- The Democratic Engagement Exchange in support of the project The Network for Campus Based Democratic Engagement.
