Many older adults wish to remain in their homes and communities, but without adequate supports such as food assistance, transportation, and housing help they risk premature institutionalization, social isolation, and declining health. Alberta lacks a comprehensive, policy-driven strategy to ensure consistent access to community-based non-medical supports. Healthy Aging Alberta (HAA) seeks to address this gap through a policy collaborative project by developing a policy roadmap that would guide how Alberta governs and delivers these essential supports, helping shift the focus from reactive health care to proactive well-being.
