Improve Math Achievement Among Students in Aboriginal Communities

Math training that builds student academic self-confidence will facilitate better learning outcomes

Summary

This project is introducing JUMP Math training into 6 of BC’s remote Aboriginal communities. The JUMP math curriculum identifies the student’s frame of mind as an important factor in educational success and suggests that students are most engaged when they can work independently and see a clear correlation between their own efforts and success rates. This curriculum is specifically designed to help weaker students develop math skills by building on concepts incrementally and practicing and reinforcing skills frequently.
